Becoming a Member of the Pro-Cathedral Parish
Registration is the official way we join a parish community. Many people think that because they attend a particular parish they automatically belong. Membership requires signing up and formally enrolling yourself in the parish. But it is also more than just filling out some forms. Registration is a commitment to the Cathedral community, a way to be included in the religious, social and ministerial activities of the parish.
Registration not only shows you want to belong, but may be necessary for certain benefits, like scheduling sacraments, obtaining sponsor certificates, and getting donation statements for tax purposes.
Sometimes when people attend here occasionally but live within the border of another parish and want to receive a sacrament, such as baptism or marriage, or perhaps enroll a child in the sacramental preparation program, they find that unless they are registered here, they will be asked to register at the parish that is closest to them.
Committing to a parish is much like a commitment to a family, sports team, school or community organization. Just like you want the parish to be there to provide masses, sacraments, education programs and ministries, the Pro-Cathedral parish needs to be able to count on you to help and assist in our mission; to be an active member.
Registering in the parish is a statement of faith and confidence in the life and work of our parish. As parish members, we are all here to help each other on our spiritual journey; we don’t want to do this alone. We need each other. To register you may come to the parish office or see an usher or greeter at the mass you attend who will be happy to assist you.
Stewardship – An attitude of the mind and of the heart.
When a person makes a specific commitment of their time, their talent, and their treasure to the Church, it is because they see our church as their spiritual home. By making stewardship an integral part of our mission we become a living testament to our faith.
The Pro-Cathedral needs everyone to become stewards of the gifts they have been given by God … whether it is clothes for the poor, food for the hungry, or simply arms outreached to someone who is lonely. What can you do to support the parish?
1. Get involved in one of our Ministries. There are many areas in the life of the Cathedral that are enhanced by the work of volunteers.
2. Contribute Financially. For more information visit here: Stewardship/Contributions
3. Planned Giving. For more information visit here: Stewardship/Contributions
4. You may not be in a position at this time to financially donate. Please know that your prayers are a welcome gift to your parish. Perhaps you could join our Prayer Line and pray for others in need. Call the parish office for more information.
Thank you for sharing your gifts.
