Receiving the Eucharist
“Jesus said to them: I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty” (John 6:35).
For our Sick and Shut-in
If you are not able to attend mass and are confined to your home due to illness, contact the parish office at 472-3970 for our Home Eucharistic Ministers to visit and bring communion to you.
The Sacrament of First Eucharist
Children who have already celebrated the Sacrament of First Reconciliation are invited to participate in this preparation.
As with all of our sacraments for children, the preparation process takes place “in the midst of the community” especially when it gathers at the Sunday assembly throughout the year. Children preparing for the reception of the sacraments are invited to participate in the Sunday Celebration of the Word with Children at the 9:00 AM mass.
First Holy Communion is celebrated on Corpus Christi Sunday, the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ each year at the Pro-Cathedral of the Assumption. Usually children are aged 7 years and older when they participate in our parish preparation program to prepare to receive this sacrament.
“We Discover God’s Paths” is the booklet our parish uses as a guide for the preparation for the sacrament. Our parish programme consists of parent and child meetings followed by take-home work in the above mentioned booklet.
At the first meeting, the parents will learn more about the Sacrament of First Eucharist and how the take-home study programme works. Booklets are given to the children at this meeting.
Prior to the celebration of the sacrament, several meetings are held at the church to review the take-home work with the parents and to offer assistance and guidance.
Meeting dates are advertised in our parish bulletin prior to the beginning of preparation.
