The Sacrament of ReconciliationHPIM0104

The Sacrament of Reconciliation gives us a new sense of peace, strength and purpose.

Receiving the Sacrament at Church

Each week Confessions are heard from 3:00 to 3:45 PM (just prior to our 4:00 PM Mass) in the Cathedral. Individual, private Confession is also available to our parishioners by calling the parish office at 472-3970 to arrange for an appointment.  We also offer Seasonal Penitential Services that are held in Advent and Lent – Be sure to keep an eye on our Bulletin for the dates.

Receiving the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the First Time

First Reconciliation Registration Form – Fall 2017  –  First Gathering Wednesday, September 20 – REGISTER NOW OR AT MEETING!

** The first registration meeting takes place in the fall in the Parish Hall.  At this gathering we register the children for our sacrament program. After our first preparation meeting – no new registrations will be accepted.  Please watch the parish bulletin in late August and early September for this meeting date.

As with all of our sacraments for children, the preparation process takes place “in the midst of the community” especially when it gathers at the Sunday assembly throughout the year. Children preparing for the reception of the sacraments are invited to participate in the Sunday Celebration of the Word with Children at the 9:00 AM mass.

Candidates are usually are in grade two or three when they receive the Sacrament of First Reconciliation and takes place during the season of Advent (December).

“We Discover God’s Paths” is the booklet our parish uses as a guide for the preparation for the sacrament. Our parish programme consists of parent and child meetings followed by take-home work in the above mentioned booklet.

At the first meeting, the parents will learn more about the Sacrament of Reconciliation and how the take-home study programme works. Booklets are given to the children at this meeting.

Prior to the celebration of the sacrament, several meetings are held at the church to review the take-home work with the parents and to offer assistance and guidance.

Meeting dates are advertised in our parish bulletin prior to the first meeting and registration forms are available in the church at that time.

Attention Parents – First Reconciliation Registration Meeting for Children will be announced in our Parish Bulletin.
